Joan Moore

May 6, 1936 - December 11, 2003

Joan Moore was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer in May of 2001.  For the next 32 months, and with God leading her way, she waged the most gallant fight imaginable against this insidious disease.

Before and during her battle with cancer, Joan was a beautiful lady, both inside and out.  She continued her amazing schedule of activities until the very end, which included being a most devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and faithful servant.  Her faith never wavered, and she never lost her indomitable spirit and famous Joan Moore smile.  She did this while undergoing more than two continuous years of chemotherapy and then radiation.  The side effects from these treatments were agonizing, and her pain was excruciating.  Most people never knew this.

Joan passed away on December 11, 2003.  She and her family will always be grateful for her caretakers at Duke and Hospice of Wake County, all of whom did everything they could to help her in this battle.
