Mimi Wilson

January 5, 1932 - March 20, 2004
Mimi Wilson died on March 20, 2004, as a result of ovarian cancer. This silent killer gave no warning. She was healthy until a week before her death. She just got sick on Saturday the 13th of March.
Mimi was passionate about life. She dedicated her life to her family. After graduating from Kent State University, she taught school for six years. After giving birth to her first child, she became a stay-at-home mother. Her main interest in life was caring for her husband and their three children. Later, she added to her list the spouses of her children and six grandchildren.
Mimi’s two sons did their undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University, and her son-in-law did his graduate studies at Duke University. All of her children chose to live in the Carolinas, so it was Mimi’s dream to move to North Carolina to be near her children and grandchildren.
In August of 2003, Mimi and her husband Ken moved into their new home in River Landing in Wallace, NC, to start a new life nearer to their family. Seven months later her dream was cut short from complications after surgery for ovarian cancer.
Mimi’s legacy is her three children: Sallie is also a graduate from Kent State University, a full-time mother and former banker; Ken, Jr., is a trial lawyer with offices in Barnwell and Charleston, SC; and Jon is a physician living in Greensboro, NC. Mimi’s legacy also includes her six grandchildren.
Mimi was active in the Episcopal Church, the Women’s Golf League at River Landing, bridge clubs, and many other social organizations. Mimi and Ken started dating at age 18 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last New Year’s Eve.
